Day 01 - Welcome to the Island

Arrival in Sri Lanka | Airport ➝ Negombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, your personal guide will greet you and escort you to the coastal town of Negombo. Settle in at your hotel and relax after the flight. Depending on your time of arrival, take a peaceful walk along the beach or explore the town’s Dutch canal system and colonial churches.

Negombo ➝ Pinnawala ➝ Sigiriya

After breakfast, begin your journey inland. Stop at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where rescued elephants are bathed in the river. Continue north to Sigiriya, nestled in the Cultural Triangle. Arrive at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure, preparing for the next day’s iconic climb.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Village Safari

Begin the morning with a climb of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th-century citadel of King Kashyapa. Marvel at its water gardens, frescoes, and panoramic summit views. In the afternoon, explore authentic village life on a bullock cart and boat ride safari, ending with a traditional Sri Lankan lunch at a local home.

Sigiriya ➝ Polonnaruwa ➝ Sigiriya

After breakfast, head to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s medieval capital. Your guide will walk you through the Gal Vihara rock statues, royal palace ruins, and majestic stupas. Return to Sigiriya in the afternoon and relax with a massage or enjoy the resort pool.

Sigiriya ➝ Kandy (via Dambulla & Matale)

Travel to Kandy, stopping en route at the Dambulla Cave Temple, home to ancient murals and over 150 Buddha statues. In Matale, visit a spice garden to learn about cinnamon, cardamom, and Ayurvedic remedies. Arrive in Kandy, and visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, followed by a serene walk around the lake.

Explore Kandy & Peradeniya Gardens

Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, renowned for its orchids and massive fig trees. Return to the city to explore local markets, handicraft shops, and the historic Kandy Lake Club for a cultural dance performance in the evening.

Kandy ➝ Nuwara Eliya (Tea Country)

Drive through winding mountain roads surrounded by tea estates and waterfalls to reach Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England.” Stop at a tea factory to learn how Ceylon tea is made. Explore Gregory Lake, colonial architecture, or enjoy a peaceful walk in Victoria Park.

Overnight Stay: Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya at Leisure

Spend your final full day at leisure or opt for a half-day excursion to Horton Plains National Park for a scenic hike to World’s End and Baker’s Falls. Alternatively, enjoy high tea at a colonial hotel, go horseback riding, or take a leisurely cycle through the misty town.

Overnight Stay: Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure. You’ll leave with memories of ancient cities, lush green highlands, warm smiles, and the cultural gems of Ceylon that many travelers never find.
